This is a new international photography collective that we'll be launching at the beginning of 2010. Check out our trailer. Or watch it larger on strange.rs

Hoofer Rail Jam

Picking up on the earlier thread of multimedia, here's my my recent experiment in new forms of visual story-telling. As a side note, we also had several interesting discussion in the office regarding the challenge/value/loss of adding editorial text to some of these products. And we keep asking the question of who has time to digest all this info and wait forms hold our "audiences" the longest. Thus far, this type of slide show continues to rank well in terms of google analytics and what content on our news page generates the most views (news stories about traffic/weather-related closures, campus emergencies, major science, ranking, etc.). No answers... just lots of experiments. FYI - this slide show took me about 7 hours to shift through 900 captured frames, conceive, license music, and produce. The learning is getting faster but remains steep.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

The "Fantastic Mr. Fox" stop motion movie, just released, was shot completely with the Nikon D3.

35 workstations; 5,229 shots; 621,450 frames; 120GB data per day (18.5TB total).

One lazy director, supervising the whole thing from his remote couch in Paris. :)

Here's a short "making of the movie" video, on wired.com.

Anybody making a movie with your DSLR? :)

P.S. I love that the movie characters have "real" voices, while one of the guys who talks about making the movie has a cartoon voice. :)

Thanks

I woke up after sleeping for only about four hours. The buzz is still on but I'm sure by this afternoon I will be looking for a nice warm cave to sleep in. THANK YOU to all for attending last nights event. I was shocked by how many people attended and gratified that so many vets were there. The topper to the evening was that Russell Panczenko the director of the Chazen wants to acquire the portrait of Will Williams for the permanent collection. Wow I never thought anything like that would happen.
So now it's time for me to climb back in my box. I do have an idea for a new project. I think it will be quite fowl.
